The surf was lacking all last week with 1-2 foot waves breaking too close to shore. Monday and Tuesday were especially bad because the ocean was still filled with seaweed and jellyfish from the red ride. Supposedly the smaller waves are better for beginners, but it's hard for me to catch them with my shortboard. There were some nice waves today and it should get better from a incoming swell as the week progresses.

I used my lunch break on Friday to swim laps at a pool within walking distance of work. It was nice and empty and the pool was long enough to make for a good swim across. I would swim there more often except that it would be a hassle to borrow the pool key from my coworker all the time.
